About Us

The Fricchione Day Care Center at Marywood University provides quality child care to those who wish to pursue career, personal, or educational goals. It is our goal to provide a loving atmosphere that emphasizes the development of the whole child-mind, body, and spirit. The Fricchione Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and is rated a STAR IV early childhood facility.

The Fricchione Day Care Center was founded on the belief that children learn through their interaction with other children and adults. The program strives to meet the developmental needs of each child to enhance the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of each child.

  • Our Philosophy

The philosophy of the Fricchione Day Care Center is to provide an environment where children feel safe and are encouraged to explore materials as well as their relationships with peers and adults. We believe that children learn by doing and thrive emotionally, socially, physically, and cognitively when they are actively engaged with their environment. Experiences are provided to enhance all areas of development of each child, including children with special needs and children from culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Our History

Beginning in September 1991, the Fricchione Day Care Center opened its doors to the children of Marywood’s students, staff, and faculty as well as to children of employees from the IHM Convent and St. Joseph’s Center. The Fricchione Day Care Center also serves alumni and the general public on a space available basis. Marywood’s main purpose in establishing the Center is to provide quality care and learning experiences for those who wish to pursue career, personal, and/or educational goals.

We received accreditation in 1993 from the National Association of the Education of Young Children. We also received the highest star rating for quality, leadership, environment, and community partnerships from Keystone Stars.

Parents Say

  • Children blah blah

"My children, ages 3 and 5, are thriving at the Fricchione Center. Despite their very different personalities, both find the environment comfortable and engaging. They look forward to going to school every day and have made heartwarming connections with their peers and teachers. The teachers demonstrate not only warmth and patience, but also insight into the needs and behavior of this age group. Furthermore, the curriculum encourages both a love of learning and positive social interaction, two things that, no doubt, carry over into life outside the classroom. All of these qualities enable me to recommend the Fricchione Center with enthusiasm!"

"I could not ask for a better place than Fricchione for our daughter to learn and grow. She loves her teachers and can't wait to go to school each day. Not only is she is safe and learns a lot but she is also cared for and loved."
